Pride 365 with Thomas G.

We ride with pride, 365 days per year. In that light, we've asked our instructor Thomas to tell us a bit more about what Pride means to him!

What does pride mean to you?

Wow, you started with the most difficult question. Pride is something I strive towards every single day. Partially by being proud of who you are (and yes, I mean everyone on this planet) and also by educating myself and others. For example; I never really fully understood the importance of pronounce, until I really dove into it and read people’s stories. Now I’m bummed by people who are still ignorant and try to help them understand better where it comes from.

What were important key moments in your life that brought you to where you are today?

That’d be the immense love from both my parents. I can discuss anything with them and I never felt really unseen or unheard (okay, except from puberty issues) and they’re always checking in with me on how I’m doing.

If you could give your 16-year-old self a mantra to live by, what would it be?

Don’t ever hold back, the people who are able to catch up will and the others who hold you back don’t matter in the end.

As a LGBTQIA+ Vélofam, how do we show up for each other and how can we do better?

Vélo is already one of the safest spaces I work at and I’m very happy to make it an even better environment. I just want to encourage everyone to wear what they want to wear! If you feel like you want to rock a crop top, I’ll be your biggest fan!

Name one hit we can expect from your Pride Ride playlist...

Well that’s an easy one: Alaska Thunderfuck 5000 - Leopard Print
