Vélo

Reasons to Ride: Michelle & Nadine

Our riders are at the heart of the Vélo community. We ride together. So it's our pleasure to give the spotlight to Michelle & Nadine.

Can you both tell us a bit more about yourself?

Nadine (29): We met 7 years ago during a house party in Amsterdam.

Michelle (31): Nadine was dating my stepbrother at the time and I really wanted her to become my ‘sister’.

Nadine: That didn’t happen, but we did stay friends!

Michelle: We both live in Amsterdam, I live by myself and Nadine with her boyfriend. We both work in the creative industry and enjoy this city to the fullest. We love all possibilities this city has to offer: clubs (before cv-19), cinema, musea, parks and all nice spots to meet with friends - even though that’s a bit harder now.

Nadine: And of course we like to stay healthy by working out. I also love to give Mies and my friends a reiki treatment now and then.

What is it you love about Vélo?

Besides the rides, we love that we always get a warm welcome when we come in. The studio is modern but cosy and facilitates everything you need. And let’s not forget about our favorite shake, the Push Up! The perfect reward after our ride.

How did you two become Vélo buddies?

M: It was Vélo that got me on a spinning bike in 2018. And like you guys say, it was love at first ride. Since then I was hooked, and of course I wanted to convince my best party friend Nadine that there’s another kind of party we should not mis out on: party on a bike!

N: It took her three months to convince me to join, because I was scared I could never finish a whole ride. And even though it was tough, I fell in love with this kind of workout as well. A Vélo class is now our weekly get-together for 1,5 years already!

What is your ideal Vélo class and why?

Easy question: We’re in love with Milou’s rides and taste of music, so whatever class she gives, we’re a fan anyway. However, her theme rides are the best! We don’t wanna miss a basement rave, a real killer ride.

What is your perfect time to go to class (morning or evening) and why?

Nadine: That’s an easy one as well. Early morning rides are a no go for me. Luckily Mies is willing to be a good friend.

Michelle: Any evening will do, but Monday evening became our favorite time to ride, because this way we can kick off the week together.

What is Vélo to you?

More than a hobby, haha. No other plans are allowed at this moment of the week. Last week we were standing in the rain, planning our upcoming rides, because we just need to have this set before going home. It’s probably quite clear now: what Justin Bieber is to teenage girls, Vélo is to us.
